Today is the official kickoff of the McKinley Summer Summit! Put on your imaginary hiking boots because Week 1 is all about The President's Mountain.
Take 15 minutes this week to read the story, learn some new vocabulary, and tackle our first hands-on challenge together.

Dear McKinley Families,
Happy Summer! It is time for sleeping in, swimming pools, and family vacations. We want our students to relax and recharge, but we also want to make sure their brains stay sharp for the fall.
To help beat the "summer slide," we are incredibly excited to invite your family to join the McKinley Summer Summit!
What is the Summer Summit?
We know parents are busy, so we didn’t want to send home a heavy packet of worksheets. Instead, we’ve built a completely free, self-guided 8-week adventure designed to keep your child curious and connected.
Each week, starting Monday, June 1st, we will feature a new exciting theme—from Space Explorers and Dinosaur Detectives to the history of our very own Great Salt Lake and the Golden Spike!
How does it work?
It takes just 15–20 minutes a week and requires almost zero screen time! Simply visit our website, choose the grade your child is going into, and complete the four quick steps for the week:
The Read: A short, fun story about the week's theme.
Vocabulary: 3 "power words" to practice.
Talk About It: Fun dinner-table questions to spark great conversations.
The Challenge: A simple, hands-on activity you can do around the house or in the yard!

Weekly Reminders
Don't worry about remembering to check the site—we will send you a quick reminder message every Monday morning with a heads-up about that week's theme.
There are also fun mid-summer and end-of-summer certificates your child can earn and bring to the school for a special reward!
We can't wait to hike the "Mountain of Knowledge" with you this summer. Have a wonderful weekend, and we will officially kick things off on Monday!

You will not be able to enter 500 S. Please enter the pickup line from the North on 1st West. See the attached flyer. Please also check your email for the map. We appreciate your patience.
